Our Company History

For over 40 years, the founders of Essential Water Treatment, Mark Wakefield and Joyce Takeda Wakefield, have been providing custom residential and commercial water treatment solutions to meet the needs of their clients. Our philosophy and methodology in treating water for drinking and bathing, coupled with the unique products we offer, always encompass a focus on health and wellness.

In the early 80s, Mark was one of the founding members of legendary Water Factory Systems, the developer of the original residential reverse osmosis (RO) systems as well as many other water technology innovations.

Since then, Mark served as Global Vice President of Consumer Water Products for Ionics Incorporated and Vice President of Water Techniques Incorporated. Both Joyce and Mark have been very active members of the Pacific Water Quality Association (PWQA) with Joyce holding positions of Board Member, Treasurer, Vice President and President while Mark served on various Technical Advisory Committees and received the Award of Merit from the Water Quality Association of America (WQA).
